A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Thessaloniki Companions and Istanbul Trojans.
The Thessaloniki Companions topped the Istanbul Trojans by a score of 12-1. Leading the way was third baseman Jeigif Netrebenko. Netrebenko went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Companions. The win puts Thessaloniki at 74-61 this season.
With Thessaloniki leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Netrebenko came up to bat against Istanbul pitcher Jose Casiano. Netrebenko hit a fastball to left for a 2-run double. His 34th double of the season put the Companions on top, 3-0.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Netrebenko. "You've got to get results."
