Vikings Win, 1-0, as Saro Mystifies Istanbul
Saturday, April 3rd , 1926
Napoleon Saro kept the Istanbul Trojans hitters from doing much damage at Hippodrome.
Istanbul could only muster 4 hits and draw 4 walks against the right-handed Saro, who controlled them throughout the game. Stockholm won the contest, 1-0. Saro added 4 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.
"I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Saro told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time."
