Red-Hot Savino Scorches Curse
Friday, April 9th , 1926
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Saverio Savino is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Celtic Curse at Croke Park Diamond. The monster effort from the 25-year-old left fielder helped the Holland Halberdiers get the win, 13-3.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Curse manager Lookia Wookia. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Saverio Savino hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 9th.
So far in 1926 Savino is batting .342 with no home runs, 2 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He has 13 hits in 38 at-bats and a .359 OBP.
