August's #1 Hurler Announced: Lung Wednesday, September 1st , 1926 The top pitcher this past month in the Eastern League was Nicolae Lung of the Thessaloniki Companions. He really bewildered league hitters, finishing August with an excellent 5-1 record and 2.76 ERA. The Companions hurler made 7 starts and surrendered 69 hits in 58.2 innings. He struck out 16 and walked 10. Lung has posted a 18-6 record for the year with a 2.86 ERA. Teams are hitting .253 against him and he has rung up 61 strikeouts in 261 innings. |
