Holtz Blasts 3 into Bleachers Sunday, September 19th , 1926 Fans are still buzzing after Venetian whipped the London Knights by the score of 12-2 at Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium. Verner Holtz smashed three home runs in the contest, a feat that would be a career highlight for most players and few fans ever see. In a tremendous performance, the catcher bashed out 4 hits in 5 at-bats, had 7 RBIs and scored 4 times. At the postgame press conference, Holtz said it was an "unbelievable" feeling to hit three home runs in a game. "Getting one homer is special, and two is great," Holtz said. "Three is just... wow." Verner Holtz hit a solo-shot off Gunnar Glueck in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Gunnar Glueck in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Pavlov Dardyk in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th. Holtz is currently hitting at a .308 pace with 17 home runs, 91 RBIs and has scored 76 times. |
