Oslo Blanked by Pyrz
Sunday, September 19th , 1926
Before the game, Karol Pyrz said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Fjord Field, the Feldherren pitcher blanked the Oslo Valkyries, 6-0.
"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Pyrz said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my sinker even when I was behind in the count."
The Munich starter held Oslo scoreless, giving up 5 hits while registering 3 strikeouts and issuing 4 walks.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Valkyries manager Lookia Wookia said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
In 35 starts this season, Pyrz has recorded 15 wins and absorbed 13 losses. He has pitched 255.1 innings, allowed 300 hits, struck out 101 and has a 4.79 ERA.
