Monongahelas Clip Raiders, 5-4
|
The Pittsburgh Monongahelas had to overcome a fine effort from Tuscon pitcher Dustin Greenfield to grab a narrow 5-4 win at Tetrad Core Colloseum. Greenfield went 6.2 innings and allowed no runs. Ryan Duncan, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Pittsburgh has run its win streak to 6 in a row.
Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Bill Allen to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Monongahelas on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Tuscon manager Lookie Wookie.
