Win Lifts Iron Benders to 18-8
|
The Pacific City Iron Benders got a good effort from starter Marcos Nuncio in defeating the Pittsburgh Monongahelas at Forbes Field. The final score was 7-2. Pacific City has now won 5 straight, while the Monongahelas have lost 3 in a row.
Pacific City used the timely hitting of Travis Hostetler to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Iron Benders on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Hostetler said his team "played with determination."
