The Wheat City Whiskey Jacks got a stellar effort from pitcher Danny Villegas, helping Wheat City score a win over the visiting Pittsburgh Monongahelas, 4-2. Villegas went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-2. Bill Park picked up the save for Wheat City, his 5th of the year.
The Whiskey Jacks got a big at-bat from right fielder Weston Munro. For the game, Munro was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Wheat City a 3-1 lead.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Villegas said after the game.
Wheat City now has a record of 15-13 with the win.
