Columbia Sunk by Tampa, 2-1
|
The Tampa Crocodiles faced a tough opponent in Columbia pitcher Alfonso Figueroa, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Segra Park by a final score of 2-1. Figueroa went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Picking up the save was Joel Lopez, his 2nd. Tampa, now 6-9, is off to a slow start.
The result might have been different for Tampa, had it not been for Jeff Zbranek, the former first round draft pick . Zbranek stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Tampa up, 2-1. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Zbranek told a Tampa News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
