Brawlers Earn 8-7 Win Versus Raptor Boats
|
Fans watched the Brooklyn Brawlers and the Raleigh Raptor Boats fight to the finish.
Raleigh center fielder Joe Gandia was sensational. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Brooklyn beat the Raptor Boats, 8-7. Chris Shine picked up the save for Brooklyn, his 1st of the year.
The result might have been different, had it not been for Pat Austin, the Brooklyn second baseman. Austin had a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Brawlers ahead, 8-7. For the game, Austin had 1 double and 2 singles in 6 at-bats.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Lookie Wookie.
The Brawlers, at 10-13, have now won 4 straight.
