The Brooklyn Brawlers did just enough to sneak past the Mexico City Blazers, 4-3, at Burnt to a Crisp Field. Brooklyn pitcher Eric McManus, in particular, had a standout performance. McManus picked up the win for Brooklyn, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 4-2. Jamie Stern got credit for the save for Brooklyn. It was his 6th of the year.
The Brawlers benefited from a costly error in the top of the third. With Steve Barr at bat and Brooklyn leading 3-2, the Mexico City miscue allowed Brooklyn to plate 1 and take the lead, 4-2.
"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Barr. "I think we showed that here."
Brooklyn is now 13-14. Mexico City is 11-16.
