Dan Covey impressed in the 8-7 Pacific City win over Anchorage. Covey, who is tied for 2nd in the FL in extra base hits with 9, went 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. Pacific City reliever Bill Tiley picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Jaime Mendoza took the loss. The Whalers, now 4-10, continue their slow start.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Pacific City shortstop Jason Smith, facing Jaime Mendoza, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Iron Benders the 8-7 win.

"This place was rocking at the end," Smith said.
