Victory Over Keys Takes Pittsburgh to 11-3
|
The Pittsburgh Monongahelas downed the Kansas City Keys, 7-4, at Polo Grounds 1923. Manuel Aguirre led the way, going 1-for-3 for Pittsburgh. Josh Phillips got the win, improving to 1-2. He held the Keys to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 1. Antonio Salcido closed it out for his 6th save.
Nick McNalley, the slick-fielding third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. McNalley contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 3-2.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Aguirre.
The Monongahelas, now 11-3, have played some good baseball in the early going.
